Founded in 1978, Wenzel Associates
is a leading manufacturer of precision crystal oscillators for
the communications, military, and test equipment markets.
Precision oscillators are used by the aerospace industry
for guidance, tracking and telemetry systems. In addition,
the communications industry uses them for satellite, cellular,
PCN, base station and VSAT systems. The navigation industry
utilizes them for MLS, radar, GPS and Loran-C systems, and
the instrument industry uses them in counters, standards, synthesizers,
and various test instruments.
Wenzel manufactures related products including frequency standards,
amplifiers, frequency dividers, frequency multipliers, and
a number of special devices for selected industries.

The Compatible series provides low phase noise in two
standard Euro packages. Available with temperature stability
from +-3x10-7 to +-3x10-10 over range, these oscillators
offer instrument designers a common footprint for various
customer requirements. SC-cut crystals offer excellent "close-in" phase
noise, good short term phase stability (low pops) and
fast warm-up. AT-cut crystals provide good overall stability
at a low cost.
|
|
|
|
|
Competitively priced, the Onyx Series provides phase noise floors
to -165 dBc/Hz for frequencies from 4 to 30 MHz and -170 dBc/Hz
from 30 to 130 MHz, SC-cut, three point mount crystals provide
excellent vibration immunity and close-in noise.

|
|
Available from 4 to 24 MHz, the Timekeeper provides excellent stability
with very low noise in an industry standard package. Thick foam
insulation reduces the power consumption and buffers the crystal
from temperature changes. SMA connectors and solder pins are
standard. Both AT and SC-cut crystals are available

The Streamline series offers excellent performance in a low profile
package. The new External Reference Select Streamline (2.25 x
2.25 x 1") automatically switches to an external reference,
accepting both 5 and 10 MHz, when present, and providing 5 MHz
out.

The Ultra-Low Noise oscillators provide the lowest phase noise
floor available at frequencies from 4 to 500 MHz. Packaged in
small 1.75 x 2.94 x 1" cans, the "ULN" series
is available for PCB and panel mounting. Measurements at NIST
in Boulder, Colorado confirm phase noise performance to -180
dBc at 20 kHz for selected 5 and 100 MHz oscillators. Ultra-Low
Noise Plus oscillators include multipliers extending the frequency
range to 500 MHz. Phase noise is degraded typically 2 dB more
than the theoretical 20 log N, where N is the multiplication
factor.

Available from 4 to 30 MHz, the Small Fry offers excellent short-term
stability with very low noise in an industry standard package.
A vacuum flask insulator minimizes effects of short-term temperature
changes, providing a stable frequency with power consumption
of typically 1 watt at 25 degrees C. SMA connectors and solder
eyelets are standard.

The new Blue Top Ultra
Low Noise oscillator provides scientific instrument and
timing systems designers with superb temperature stabilities
and ultra-low phase noise. The crystal is mounted in
a large thermal mass isolated on shock mounts to provide
the best short-term stability and phase noise, typically
better than -120 dBc at 1 Hz and -178 dBc at 10 kHz..
An internal doubler is optional and 5 and 10 MHz outputs
may be provided simultaneously.

The LO and Sprinter series are miniature VHF oscillators using
crystals from 20 to 130 MHz. Available with both SMA and solder
pins, standard options include dual outputs for easy phaselocking.
Frequently used in "clean-up" circuits, these oscillators
can be specified with phase noise floors to -170 dBc. The Sprinter
Plus Series is available with built in multipliers and can be
specified to 500 MHz. Phase noise is increased by typically 20
log N + 2dB, where N is the multiplication factor.

30 to 130 MHz. Available with solder pins and surface mount,
standard options include two different packages. Frequently used
in GPS Receivers, Cellular Base Stations, Synthesizers, etc.,
these oscillators can be specified with phase noise floors to
-170 dBc.

Wenzel Associates provides
many oscillators to customer spec. controlled drawings,
often offering a high level of design expertise to provide
solutions to difficult design problems.
Build to SCD oscillators are frequently required in military systems
for dense and rugged packaging as well as extended temperature
ranges. Wenzel oscillators provide high reliability while supporting
the Perry and Cohen initiatives to convert expensive, highly-specified
systems to state-of-the-art industrial grade systems. Commercial
components have been successfully integrated into critical airborne
applications, making use of the newest technology available. Build
to SCD oscillators can be quickly developed to support competitive
industries allowing designers to consolidate several functions
in an oscillator to reduce production times and costs on the system
level.
Some of the special functions that Wenzel Associates provides are
fast signal switching, low phase noise at higher output levels,
integrated multiple frequency sources, integrated phase-locked
loops, and vibration isolation systems.
